Close Enough to Touch the Turf Print this page
Four winners of the "2006 NFL Game Day Sales Experience" sales contest earned seats for themselves and a guest on the 50-yard line of the Lions vs. Seahawks game at Ford Field in Detroit. Could you be the next winner of a VIP pass?

The limo ride was pretty exciting. And so was the sideline tour, meeting the Seahawks CEO, and staying at the same luxury hotel as the players. But what really stands out in Vinny D’Amico’s mind is that he was close enough to the Lions vs. Seahawks action (Sept. 10, 2006) to touch the artificial turf’s tiny rubber beads.

"It’s made of recycled tires," he marveled.

Although he’s a Patriot’s fan, D’Amico, owner and principal of VFD Financial Solutions in Salem, N.H., said winning Symetra’s 2006 NFL Game Day Sales Experience was a "blast" for he and wife Kathleen. "It was really cool to be down on the field and feel the excitement; to be close enough to actually see the players and watch them go through their drills," he said.

D’Amico was joined by fellow contest winners Randy Eschels, principal and owner of Eschels Financial Group in Birmingham, Mich.; Michael Dellinger a registered rep with Symetra Investment Services (SIS) from Bel Air, Md.; and Don Anthony from Arnold, Md.

"They really made us feel special," said Dellinger. "My son enjoyed getting inside information for fantasy football, he called all his friends and they hate him now, and I enjoyed meeting the CEO of the Seahawks."

Sound like fun? There are still four more opportunities to win a NFL experience like this one:
  • Seahawks vs. St. Louis Rams — Qwest Field: Sunday, Nov. 12

  • San Francisco 49ers vs. Seahawks — Monster Park: Sunday, Nov. 19

  • Denver Broncos vs. Seahawks— INVESCO at Mile High: Sunday, Dec. 3
  • Tampa Bay vs. Seahawks — Raymond James Stadium: Sunday, Dec. 31
In addition to receiving two premium seats, winners and one guest enjoy an exclusive pre-game sideline tour, a private reception with Seahawks management, transportation and luxury accommodations at the official team hotel.

"You can’t just buy a ticket and have this experience," said Dave Carratt, business development manager for Symetra Investment Services, and game-day host. He admits he’d almost always rather stay home and watch the game on TV, but he’s glad he didn’t. "This was a once-in-a-lifetime experience," he said. "The kind of thing that creates life-long memories."
