Randall H. Talbot
President and Chief Executive Officer

Randy Talbot is chief executive officer and president of Symetra Financial Corp. and its insurance subsidiaries, as well as a member of the board of directors. Under Talbot’s leadership, Symetra has emerged as one of the leading life insurance and financial services companies on the West Coast.

In 2004, Talbot led the effort to create Symetra Financial and transition the business from the Life and Investments division within its former parent company to an independent corporation. He joined the company in 1998 and guided a business strategy focused on selling life insurance, group medical products, retirement plans and annuities through independent agents and advisors nationwide.

Talbot was one of the first in the industry to bring together insurance companies and financial institutions for the purpose of selling insurance products.

Talbot began his financial services career at Talbot Financial Corp., in Albuquerque, N.M., where during his 23-year tenure he marketed a broad spectrum of insurance and investment products, including annuities, personal and commercial lines, group, health and life insurance.

Talbot is on the board and is Campaign Cabinet Division Chair of the Performing Arts Center Eastside and serves on the board of Washington Roundtable. In March 2008, he was appointed to the board of Concur, a leading provider of on-demand Employee Spend Management services.

Talbot also serves on the Directors Council for the American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI) and is a member of the Initiative for Global Development, a national network of corporate leaders with a business approach to abject poverty. He is a past board member of ACLI, ShareBuilder Corp., Pacific Northwest Ballet and Forest Ridge School, among others. Talbot was named Washington CEO magazine’s “CEO of Year” in 2007.

Talbot graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in insurance from Arizona State University.
