Meet Zachary “Zach” Papotto, our new stop loss regional group manager. Zach has been with Symetra for five years and joined the stop loss representative training program in 2019. He was recently promoted to regional group manager, serving the Kentucky, West Virginia, and Western Tennessee markets.
“Zach exemplifies the best of Symetra, and he’s graduated from the training program with deep industry and product knowledge,” says Tom Costello, vice president of stop loss sales. “He’s looking to help our producers find solutions to difficult stop loss placements and wants to have consistent success for the long haul.”
Through the sales rep training program, Zach gained valuable insight into what makes an effective regional group manager. “If you ask people what’s the most important lesson or skill in a sales position, you may hear a lot of things about being a good speaker,” he says. “I think I’ve learned it’s a bit of the opposite—it’s really about being a good listener. When you’re listening, you’re learning, and there’s always more to learn.”

Favorite sports teams?
I’m a Patriots fan, but I’m looking forward to all of Tom Brady’s future Super Bowl appearances.
Pets?
I have two German shepherds and enjoy fish keeping (weird!).
Favorite pastime?
I enjoy snowboarding in the winter and scuba diving in the summer. Other than that, I like the outdoors on a nice day with friends.
How would your friends and/or family describe you?
They could say I have a habit of jumping into things headfirst and that I have a new hobby every month!
Favorite music?
I’m a fan of country and anything that’s embarrassing to sing out loud.
